9th March 1989 @ The Digby Hall, Sherborne – Certificate of Merit
The Plot
The Polden Players have just left the stage after performing in a local drama festival. The production was a disaster and there is plenty of wit and repartee as sparks fly while they vent their feelings about the performance. It is apparent that each is using the theatre to escape from a humdrum life. When the Adjudicator arrives, they are surprised to get their just desserts.

Wimborne Drama Club has had a recent success in the Dorset County Drama Festival, with Charles Mander’s one act play Cup Final. The play is set in the dressing room of a converted hall during an amteur festival. Wimborne Drama Club’s cast of seven took the play to the Digby Hall, Sherborne on Thursday 9th March to compete with twenty other clubs from all over Dorset and returned witha Certificate of Merit awarded to only seven of the Clubs competing for scoring 75 marks or more and a new member, Hermann Swoboda, was chosen by the adjudicator to receive the Janet Wilson Trophy for his excellent performance.
The play was produced by Club Chairman, David Green.
